GaydarGirls is a site devoted to helping lesbian and bisexual women find love, affection, friendship, relationships, sex, and everything in between, with other singles and couples across the globe, from their registered offices in London, England. Affiliated with Gaydar Radio, one of the world's premier online LGBT radio stations, GaydarGirls describes itself as 'simply the largest selection of lesbian personals on the web', letting its users 'get what they want, when they want it'. Given such claims, we were pretty excited to review GaydarGirls to see whether it stood up to its billing. Whilst we're not convinced that GaydarGirls actually has more members than other sites we have reviewed, the membership of the site do seem active, which is made all the more viable by the profile stats provided on each profile page. If you're interested in giving GaydarGirls a go, new users can sign up to guest membership (which is completely free of charge), in order to open up access to most of the site's features.

In particular, we were interested in the integrated Travel element of the site, which allows you to see where people are travelling to, and when. This allows you to contact members to arrange meetings and hook ups, or simply acts as a good conversation starter. The travel itinerary tool also means that if you're traveling to a foreign destination, near or far, you can check out whether there are any members of the GaydarGirls community there that you would like the chance to meet up with.

As well as this, the site has a clever “symbols” system: small icons which tell you about a member at a glance. These range from very practical things such as “away from keyboard” to more important codes such as “I have a boyfriend”. Once you’ve adjusted your eyes to the system it makes for a much quicker means of filtering through the members, depending on what you’re interested in. There are also several links to other sites which offer services to other groups such as gay men.

Another one of the most innovative and exciting features offered by the good people at GaydarGirls is that the site itself is fully integrated with the Gaydar Radio online stream. This means that, at login, users are given the option to play the current Gaydar Radio show in the background whilst they surf and play. We really loved this feature, not only because it provides access to a great online lesbian and gay community and is great fun, but also because it adds to the whole experience of dating online. Users are free to customize how and when the radio plays when they are logged on, so that particular shows are never missed.

That's not all, though - GaydarGirls has even more great features to make online dating more interesting. The GPS service (GaydarGirls Positioning Service) allows you to pinpoint exactly where in the world the girl you're talking to is (provided both parties agree, for privacy reasons), meaning that you could easily pop over to see her even if you don't know the area well. Finally, Gaydarnation is an interactive lifestyle portal that brings together the benefits of a number of gay and lesbian lifestyle websites in one place, allowing members of all affiliate sites to share information, advice, tips, articles and more.

Creating a profile with GaydarGirls is very easy, you simply fill out the brief questionnaire and you're ready to go. Although the site sadly suffers from a common problem in this category, that is, a lack of profile customization, the sheer activity on the site does make up for this in part. Users can communicate with each other through a variety of means - the 'message centre', instant messaging and chatrooms - and all of these features help to create a community feeling that is bolstered by some of the more interesting and innovative elements of the site.

Whilst GaydarGirls is perhaps not the cheapest site we have come across, it is far from the most expensive either, and with an active membership and a range of interesting features we're sure that the site could provide its users with an exciting alternative to what is being offered by other online dating sites in this category. In particular, if you are interested in meeting women who travel, or you are looking to travel around yourself then the site could offer some great opportunities to meet women from around the globe.
