Ldate.com is a successful lesbian dating site, powered by the 'SuccessfulMatch' engine. A number of its reviews attest to its success in finding dates for women who are looking to meet other women in their area or further afield, and a great number of them have found life long love. The site maintains an in-depth searching system and the ability for paying members to upload up to 27 photos, as well as a wide range of blogs, forums and extra features which make it worth considering.

As you would expect, Ldate is a lesbians only site (effectively signalled by the 'no men' banner across some of its pages) so it's a great place for women to meet other women interested in fun, sex, relationships or just friendships. One of the major attractions of the site is its community feel, which is developed through its incorporation of blog posts and forums, allowing its members to interact in a natural way in groups. Thereafter of course, things might get more personal.

Ldate.com is very popular, being one of the most visited and most active lesbian dating sites we have reviewed in this category. It's not hard to see why, either, with a strong range of features and a good number of active members to browse through and get to know. A basic search found us over 50 pages of results, which we were more than happy with, and most of the users had a range of photos to give a good sense of who they were and what they looked like.

The expansive photo profiles on Ldate.com is one of the site's greatest assets, with many users citing these profiles as the reason they have been so successful in finding a match on the site. Users are able to upload up to 27 high quality, high resolution images to the site and customize a profile using more than 100 optional sections. Whilst these profiles allow users to really get to know each other, they do take a great deal of time to construct and update, and this may put some users off completing their profiles fully. The ultimate advantage of such profiles is that when you make use of the extensive search options on the site, your profile is more likely to show up if you match their search criteria. Whilst the predetermined searches available on the site are good, we were a little disappointed that most search features were only available for those members who had upgraded their membership to the premium gold option. However if you do upgrade to gold then you are allowed to be much more specific, which is no bad thing.

Ldate.com is one of the most feature-packed lesbian dating sites we have reviewed in this category. Firstly, the opportunities to engage and communicate with other members using the site are extensive, with users being able to send in-site email, chat to users using the instant messaging facility (which was undoubtedly one of the slickest we have seen!), send winks and flirts or greetings cards or simply search through the vast number of user profiles to find a good match. One of the most innovative features we came across was the 'fashion show' feature, which cycles users swiftly through the thumbnail profile pictures of those users who match their basic search criteria. Users can then, if they wish, click on any picture to look at that person's complete profile or get in touch with them. It's a simple idea, but it is extremely effective, especially in introducing users to new members who have just joined the site. To top it all off, users also have access to a matching service to automatically hook them up with whoever matches their 'desired' criteria.

An area the site could certainly improve on is its user interface, which is very text heavy and contains a lot of subsections and links, which can be off-putting and at times confusing. Once you get used to this it’s not such a problem but in the beginning it can be a little tiresome and doesn’t seem as professional as some better designed sites around. However, the side bar does show you a useful amount of information when viewing a profile, or simply browsing, including stats on each member (such as how many comments have been made about them).

Ldate.com provides a wealth of interesting features and a large, active user base in which you can search for your perfect partner. As well as the excellent features, the site also has one of the best technical and customer service provisions we have seen, as users can chat directly to a customer support operative through the online Instant Messaging feature. That said, the site is pretty expensive at almost $16 a month for the cheapest premium package, a good deal more than LesbianPersonals.com.
